We woke up Monday morning to a wonderfully rainy day...you know I love those kind of days! Perfect day for making kool aid playdough. We spent a couple of hours making something that will be played with ALL summer long!!
Macy decided to catch up on her blog reading (meaning she was reading our blog)...see her arm in the background behind my laptop? So Lucy was more in on the action of making the play dough...besides, she will be the one playing with it the most...sister will play for hours with the stuff!
I posted the recipe here last year, but I doubled it this time, so I'll give you the measurements I used...
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
6 Tbsp cooking oil
2 packages unsweetened kool-aid
2 cups boiling water
Mix together flour, salt, oil, and kool-aid. Add boiling water (this is Lucy's favorite part, although I handle the boiling water...this is when the color comes to life!) Stir mixture until it begins to form a ball, then knead. Store in an airtight container.
This playdough smells SO good. We made mixed berry (turquoise), lemon lime (lime green), pink lemonade (light, light pink), peach mango (peachy light orange color), orange (orange...I was out of orange food coloring or I would have added some to make it darker), lemonade (yellow...I added a little yellow food coloring to make it darker), and strawberry lemonade (light pink...a little darker than the pink lemonade). We have several yellowish orangish and two pinks, but we were really experimenting more with smells than colors *Ü*
Lucy has played with it at some point every day since we made it!

Sounds like fun. Can you eat it? Just curious because if I make it with my boys, they are definitely going to taste it!
So much fun. I am going to have to add this to my to do list for this summer.
